MOF: Private Organisations May Submit Proposals For Budget 2021

The Ministry of Finance is inviting private and non-governmental organisations to share any suggestions they may have for the upcoming Budget 2021. The relevant parties can submit their ideas on issues and recommendations for consideration on the ministry’s official Budget Memorandum website.

“MOF is currently formulating strategies for 2021 Budget,” said the Ministry of Finance on its Twitter account. “Private organisations and NGOs are cordially invited to share ideas by submitting issues and proposals latest by Friday, 22 May 2020.”

In order to submit a recommendation on the website, you’ll need to log in with an existing username or key in your private organisation details to register. You can then submit issues and proposals for the upcoming Budget that are relevant to your selected topic.

Budget 2021 is expected to be announced in Parliament on 2 October 2020. Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz had previously said that the 2021 Budget will be taking into account current economic factors brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic, with emphasis on the revival of the country’s economy. It is likely that the government will have to consider the dip in the global price of oil as well, as the Finance Minister had also acknowledged the possibility of reprioritising its expenditure when commenting on the declining oil prices.

Interested private and non-governmental organisations can submit their recommendations on the Budget Memorandum website here.
