TNG Digital Sdn. Bhd. (TNG Digital) has partnered with human resources platform Kakitangan.com to introduce an additional salary payment method aimed at supporting unbanked and underserved workers in Malaysia.

The integration allows employers to transfer salaries directly into the TNG eWallet, offering an alternative to traditional bank accounts. Payments can be made using the DuitNow Bulk Transfer system through any bank’s cash management platform.

Use of DuitNow for eWallet Salary Transfers

Each TNG eWallet user is assigned a DuitNow account number. This enables payments to be received from any bank or participating eWallet, functioning similarly to a bank account. The system may be useful for employees who face difficulties opening or maintaining traditional banking services.

The TNG eWallet has been recognised by Jabatan Tenaga Kerja Semenanjung Malaysia (JTKSM) as a compliant salary account. Users can access their wages immediately and manage their funds through the eWallet’s available features.

Integration with Existing Payroll Systems

According to TNG Digital, the collaboration with Kakitangan.com aims to provide an alternative salary disbursement channel for individuals without access to conventional banking. TNG Digital states that more than two million foreign workers currently use the eWallet, and the company expects the new payment method to streamline payroll processes for employers.

Kakitangan.com, which provides HR and payroll services to over 10,000 businesses, has integrated this functionality into its platform. The company reports that this addition allows salaries to be paid securely and in compliance with Malaysian employment regulations, even for employees who do not have bank accounts.

Alan Ni, Chief Executive Officer of TNG Digital, said the partnership supports ongoing efforts to improve access to financial services for all workers in Malaysia. He noted that the solution is intended to address the specific needs of individuals who do not use or cannot open traditional bank accounts.

Effon Khoo, Director of Kakitangan.com, described the integration as a step towards offering more inclusive payroll solutions. He noted that the company’s platform is already used by many Malaysian small and medium-sized enterprises, and the added eWallet functionality provides another option for salary disbursement, particularly for employees who prefer digital payments.

Features Available to eWallet Salary Recipients

Employees receiving their salaries through the TNG eWallet can access a range of digital financial services. These include making payments via DuitNow QR and the TNG Visa Card, transferring money locally or internationally, and withdrawing cash using a linked Touch ‘n Go eWallet Visa Card. These features may help users manage their finances digitally, even without a conventional bank account.

Employers and businesses interested in using TNG eWallet for salary disbursement can learn more by visiting the Touch ‘n Go salary platform enquiry page.
