Apple has unveiled its latest iPhone 15 lineup, consisting of the iPhone 15, 15 Plus, 15 Pro, and 15 Pro Max. The official pricing, too, has been revealed, with pre-orders starting on 22 September 2023 and actual availability on 29 September.
The iPhone 15 and 15 Plus – with a 6.1” and 6.7” OLED Super Retina XDR display, respectively – are now both powered by the A16 Bionic chip, which was the processor for last year’s flagship iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max models.
On top of that, the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus have also been upgraded to a 48MP main camera with plenty of new computational photography powers, making it a considerable improvement from the previous 12MP main camera. Rounding up the camera segment is a 12MP ultra-wide camera and 12MP selfie camera.
iPhone 15 and 15 Plus also inherited the Dynamic Island feature that was previously provided for the iPhone 14 Pro models, which is essentially a floating widget or notch at the top of your iPhone display that changes shape depending on your needs, such as for displaying notifications and alerts. Most importantly, though, is that the Lightning connector has now been ditched in favour of USB-C connectivity for the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus.
Meanwhile, the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max now feature a Grade 5 titanium case and aluminium frame – a combination that creates the lightest and most durable Pro models to date (the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max weigh just 187g and 211g respectively).
Aside from that, the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max now use the A17 Pro chip, which is said to be “an entirely new class of iPhone chip that delivers our (Apple’s) best graphics performance by far”. Another new element on the iPhone 15 Pro models – among several others – is the Action Button, which replaces the alert slider and offers more functionalities. And like the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus, the 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max will both also use USB C connectors with USB 3.0 transfer speeds (up to 10Gbps), instead of the previous proprietary Lightning connector that was capped at USB 2.0 speeds (up to 480Mbps).
The Pro models see a significant upgrade in camera hardware too. While both models offer an improved 48MP main camera and a 12MP ultra-wide camera, the iPhone 15 Pro Max has a new 5x telephoto zoom lens fitted, offering the widest zoom range ever featured in an iPhone.
As we’ve mentioned earlier, pre-orders for the whole iPhone 15 lineup will begin on 22 September 2023; you can purchase the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus in five different colours (Blue, Pink, Yellow, Green, and Black) starting from RM4,399. Meanwhile, the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max are available in four colours (Natural Titanium, Blue Titanium, White Titanium, and Black Titanium) from RM5,499.
