Etiqa has announced that it will provide medical coverage for customers who purchased travel insurance if they require treatment for Covid-19 during their travels.

The coverage is extended to customers who purchased annual and single trip travel policies or certificates before the World Health Organisation (WHO) declared Covid-19 a pandemic on 11 March 2020. You will have to submit your medical benefit claims in order to get the benefits under this coverage.

According to Etiqa in its statement, this is a special waiver offered by the insurer as standard policies for travel insurances typically do not include coverage for communicable diseases that require you to quarantine yourself.

“Given the gravity of the situation with Covid-19, Etiqa would like to ease some of the uncertainty and worry weighing down on those with our travel plans and certificates,” said the group chief executive officer of Etiqa Insurance and Takaful, Kamaludin Ahmad.

For more information about the additional medical coverage as well as travel and medical assistance, you can contact Etiqa’s Emergency Travel Helpline at +603 2785 6565 or +603 2780 4677 (WhatsApp). For enquiries outside of business hours, you can email your questions to travelclaimscare@etiqa.com.my.
