Batik Air has introduced special fixed fares for Hari Raya flights to Sabah and Sarawak, aiming to ease travel during the festive season.

Minister of Transport Anthony Loke announced that, in collaboration with the government, the airline has capped ticket prices at RM319 for flights to Sarawak and RM379 for those to Sabah. He highlighted that this initiative reflects Batik Air’s commitment to addressing passengers’ needs during peak travel periods.

“As we approach the joyous festivities of Hari Raya Aidilfitri, travel takes on an even deeper significance. It is the bridge that reunites families, brings loved ones home, and strengthens the bonds that matter most,” he said.

In addition to the capped fares, Batik Air is set to increase its flight frequencies, adding up to 140 additional flights to key domestic destinations, including Kota Bharu, Alor Star, Penang, Kota Kinabalu, Kuching, Sibu, Sandakan, and Tawau. Loke emphasised that these additional services will provide greater flexibility and convenience, ensuring that more Malaysians can return home to celebrate the occasion with their loved ones.

He also noted that government intervention has played a crucial role in stabilising airfares during the festive period, preventing one-way ticket prices from exceeding RM1,000. He commended the collaboration between the government and airlines, expressing appreciation for their contributions to keeping fares accessible.

For other domestic routes, the government has set a maximum ticket price of RM499. Loke pointed out that all airlines have increased flight frequencies in anticipation of the festive rush, which is a standard practice.

“This year, we have more aircraft and more flights,” he stated. “For instance, Batik Air now has a total of 51 aircraft, enabling them to boost flight frequencies and optimise operations.”

To accommodate the expected surge in passengers, Batik Air is adding more than 22,000 seats during the peak travel period. Loke stressed the importance of ensuring a smooth and seamless travel experience, commending the efforts of airlines, airport operators, and regulatory bodies in maintaining operational efficiency.

He also acknowledged the aviation industry’s crucial role in connecting Malaysians during this meaningful time, recognising the dedication of those working behind the scenes.
