Enrich Introduces New Features, Tier Carry Forward & Mid-Tier Booster
Author Avatar

Malaysia Airlines’ frequent flyer programme, Enrich has announced that it is rolling out two new features so that it can better reward its members for their loyalty, namely the Tier Carry Forward feature and the Mid-Tier Booster feature.

Here’s a look at how the two new perks can benefit you as an Enrich member:

Feature 1: Tier Carry Forward

To start, the Tier Carry Forward feature will now allow members who have excess Elite Points – after renewing their Enrich tier membership or upgrading their tier status – to bring forward some Elite Points from the existing year to the next calendar year. Specifically, they can carry forward up to 50% of the Elite Points that are needed to renew their Enrich membership or upgrade their tier status.

For context, Elite Points were previously not cumulative and cannot be carried forward to the next year; they must be earned during each calendar year (from 1 January to 31 December) and is only valid for the year. On 1 January of each year, your Elite Points will be reset back to zero, and you must re-earn them.

Here’s a table from Enrich to clarify how the Tier Carry Forward feature works:

TierElite Points needed to renew membership/ upgrade tier status for next yearMaximum excess Elite Points that can be carried forward to next year
BlueN/AN/A
Silver30 Elite Points15 Elite Points
Gold60 Elite Points30 Elite Points
Platinum100 Elite Points50 Elite Points

So let’s say you’ve earned 55 Elite Points back in 2023. This means that you’ll be able to retain your Silver tier status in 2024. Additionally, you have enough excess Elite Points to bring forward the maximum 15 Elite Points from 2023 to 2024 – giving you a head start in upgrading your Enrich membership to the next tier (Gold) for 2024.

Note that your eligibility for the Tier Carry Forward feature will be determined based on your Enrich tier and credited Elite Points as of 31 December each year. Any adjustments made in the new calendar year due to previous missing points claims will not be taken into account.

Feature 2: Mid-Tier Booster

The Mid-Tier Booster feature, meanwhile, benefits Enrich members by rewarding them with additional perks when they hit certain milestones along their journey in accumulating Enrich Points within their tier.

Depending on the tier of your Enrich membership, you can unlock incentives like bonus Enrich Points (up to 40,000 Enrich Points) and Elite Points (up to 4 Elite Points), as well as complimentary Golden Lounge Access (up to 3x) when you’ve collected a certain amount of Enrich Points. Here’s the full list of rewards that you can enjoy and how much Enrich Points that you need to accumulate:

Note that only base Enrich Points will be tracked for the Mid-Tier Booster feature, based on each calendar year (from 1 January to 31 December); bonus Enrich Points provided through campaigns and promos will not be included. These base Enrich Points can be obtained via transactions such as flight ticket purchases from Malaysia Airlines, oneworld airlines, and other partner airlines, as well as purchases from Enrich lifestyle partners. Bank points or other loyalty points that are converted to Enrich Points are also eligible.

Enrich further clarified that if an Enrich member were to change their tier status mid-way during the calendar year (upgrade or downgrade), the base Enrich Points accumulated will still be retained and can be used to unlock the Mid-Tier Booster reward provided for the new tier.

Lastly, do be aware that the Enrich Points and e-vouchers provided via this feature will be valid for one year from the date of issuance. The Elite Points awarded, meanwhile, are valid within the same calendar year.

In the notification email sent to members, Enrich said that it believes in recognising customers’ loyalty to the brand, and hopes that these new features will offer an improved customer experience. “Whether you’re upgraded to a higher tier or maintained your current one, these features ensure that your loyalty is recognised and rewarded consistently along your journey with Enrich,” it stated.

I’ve been an Enrich Platinum for many years. One if the perks us the spouse also becomes an Enrich member. Thus year, we are yet to receive our cards yet. Surprisingly after they announced this “carry forward” feature yesterday, my wife was immediately downgraded to Silver, even though I’m still Platinum. Called them up, and they said it will take several days to rectify. My wife is flying somewhere soon and will not be have access to the lounge and extra 20kg check in. So much for being loyal.
