The e-hailing entry fee at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) has been reduced to RM2 at both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 from 16 September 2026. The new RM2 fee, inclusive of tax, replaces the previous RM3 charge at Terminal 1 and RM2.16 charge at Terminal 2, Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) said.
The entry fee is charged when an e-hailing vehicle enters the designated pick-up area at KLIA. For Grab rides, drivers commonly pass the fee on to you as a separate charge. On your final receipt, this charge usually appears under “Others”, below the “Tolls” section.
With the new rate, you’ll see the same entry fee whichever terminal you’re picked up from, MAHB said.
The fee reduction comes shortly after KLIA introduced an upgraded e-hailing system at Terminal 1 in August. Passengers now have a dedicated indoor waiting area. Cameras at the pick-up area read each car’s number plate, and screens in the waiting area show when your car has arrived. There are also self-service kiosks, designated pick-up bays, and on-ground marshals.
Within one month of the upgrade, 99.3% of drivers picked up their passenger and left within the 10-minute time limit, compared with 49.4% before, according to MAHB.
Vehicles entering the pick-up lanes each day also fell 13.5%, from 8,124 to 7,024. At the busiest times, the pick-up area can now handle up to 660 vehicles an hour, up from 302.
E-hailing vehicles still have a 10-minute time limit at the kerbside pick-up area. MAHB has previously said drivers who go over the limit could face penalty charges.
Book your Grab after you’ve arrived and reached the e-hailing meeting point, so your driver doesn’t use up the 10 minutes before you reach the bay.
