AmBank has introduced its new Mastercard Debit Card, expanding its debit card lineup with a Mastercard option aimed at customers who spend regularly at home and overseas.

The card comes with a range of travel and everyday spending perks, while a series of launch campaigns offers additional rewards for new and existing customers.

Built For Everyday Spending At Home And Overseas

The new card waives AmBank’s foreign transaction fee on overseas purchases, so international spending is converted using Mastercard’s exchange rate without an additional markup from the bank.

Cardholders also won’t pay AmBank’s RM10 overseas ATM withdrawal fee when withdrawing cash abroad.

Back in Malaysia, the card also waives the usual 1% fee for Touch ‘n Go eWallet, GrabPay and ShopeePay reloads.

Frequent travellers can receive two complimentary Plaza Premium Lounge visits each year by maintaining a minimum monthly average balance of RM5,000 over the past three months and spending at least RM5,000 with the debit card in the previous month.

Launch Promotions And Rewards 

To celebrate the launch, AmBank is running several promotions for Mastercard Debit Card holders.

If you’re a new cardholder, you can receive RM10 in Touch ‘n Go eWallet credit after activating their card and making two RM10 purchases. Spending RM500 in a month earns another RM50 in Touch ‘n Go eWallet credit, while every RM500 spent also earns entries into a lucky draw with RM10,000 worth of Touch ‘n Go eWallet credit as the grand prize.

Customers opening a new AmWafeeq Savings Account-i can also take part in the AmRewards Ultimate Getaways campaign, which offers more than 10,000 prizes including trips to Bora Bora, Sweden, Madagascar, Yunnan and Japan, along with monthly cash prizes and special draws for vehicles.

The bank is also offering Mastercard-exclusive merchant promotions, including 10% off selected international hotel bookings through Trip.com and 35% off iQIYI Standard Yearly VIP subscriptions until 31 December 2027.

Up To RM100 For New Customers 

The new debit card also ties in with AmBank’s existing account opening campaign.

As we previously reported, new-to-bank customers who open an eligible savings or current account through the AmOnline app can receive up to RM100 cashback. The promotion includes RM10 welcome cashback after successfully opening an account, with up to RM90 more available by maintaining the required account balance over the following three months.

The AmBank Mastercard Debit Card campaign runs from 1 July to 31 December 2026, while selected merchant offers, including the Trip.com and iQIYI promotions, are available until 31 December 2027.
