Applications for the Nadi card opened on 7 October 2026. It offers a fixed effective profit rate of 14% p.a. with no annual fee and was first announced in July.
Maybank Islamic is also giving a RM50 Petronas Gift Card to the first 1,000 new Nadi cardholders who apply by 31 October 2026 and make five purchases of RM10 or more within 60 days of approval.
Most credit cards use tiered rates. Under Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) guidelines, your rate depends on how many months you paid on time in the past 12 months. Paying on time means paying at least the minimum amount by the due date.
| Your Payment Record In The Past 12 Months | Rate (% p.a.) |
| Paid on time for all 12 months | 15% |
| Paid on time for 10 or 11 months | 17% |
| Paid on time for fewer than 10 months | 18% |
The Nadi card doesn’t use these tiers. It has one fixed effective profit rate of 14% p.a. (the rate you’re charged), whether you’ve paid on time every month or missed a few. Profit is only charged on what you haven’t paid off, and never on earlier profit charges. If you pay only part of your bill, that profit counts from the day each purchase was posted to your account, not from the due date. The minimum payment on the Nadi card is 5% of your bill or RM25, whichever is higher.
Cash withdrawals with the card (cash advances) are also charged 14% p.a., plus a fee of 2.52% of the amount or RM11.65, whichever is higher. Profit on a cash advance starts on the day you take the cash out and runs until you’ve paid it back in full.
If you already have a Maybank credit card, you can move its unpaid purchases to the Nadi card once, up to your Nadi credit limit, so that amount is charged at 14% p.a. To do this, call Maybank at 1-300-88-6688 or email mgcc@maybank.com.my. However, cash advances and profit charges on your old card can’t be moved.
At each rate, carrying a RM3,000 balance would cost roughly the amounts below. This assumes your balance stays at about RM3,000 and you pay at least the minimum each month.
| Rate (% p.a.) | One Month | One Year |
| 14% (Nadi card) | RM35 | RM420 |
| 15% | RM37.50 | RM450 |
| 17% | RM42.50 | RM510 |
| 18% | RM45 | RM540 |
These are simple estimates. Banks work out charges daily, so the amount on your bill may differ slightly.
If you’ve missed a few payments in the past year and would normally pay 17% or 18%, the Nadi card’s rate saves you RM90 to RM120 a year on that RM3,000. If you always pay on time, you save RM30 a year. Rates can differ from card to card, so check your current card’s rate too. Missed payments still cost a late charge of 1% of your balance (at least RM10 and at most RM100) on your Nadi card, and the missed payment goes on your credit record (CCRIS).
If you pay your full bill by the due date every month, you won’t pay profit on your purchases, so rewards and other perks may matter more. You can compare credit cards on RinggitPlus to find the one that fits how you spend and pay.
There’s no annual fee, but like every credit card, each Nadi card (principal or supplementary) is charged the RM25 government service tax when you activate it and every year after that. The card doesn’t earn TreatsPoints or cashback. You can still use more than 1,000 Maybank merchant deals across the region, but check each deal’s terms to see if it covers the Nadi card.
You can pay with it through Google Pay and Samsung Pay, but not Apple Pay for now. As a Shariah-compliant card, it can’t be used at merchants such as alcohol shops and betting outlets.
You can apply through Maybank2u or any Maybank branch if you’re a Malaysian aged 21 to 65 and earn at least RM2,000 a month. If you don’t already have a Maybank Islamic credit card, you can also apply through the MAE app. Your credit limit can go up to two times your monthly income or RM20,000, whichever is lower.
When you apply, send a copy of both sides of your MyKad (or your passport) with your income documents. If you’re employed, that’s your latest BE form with its official tax receipt, plus your payslips from the last three months and your bank statements from the last six months. If you’re self-employed, send your business registration and your bank statements from the last six months. Approval usually takes 7 to 14 days.
You can get the gift card whether you’re new to Maybank or already have a Maybank credit card. To qualify, apply between 7 and 31 October 2026 and get approved by 15 November 2026. Apply early, as approval can take two weeks.
Once you’re approved, make at least five purchases of RM10 or more with the card within 60 days. The first 1,000 cardholders to finish their five purchases get the gift card. It’s only for principal cardholders.
E-wallet top-ups, cash advances, and balance transfers don’t count as purchases, and neither do most instalment plans. Auto PayBills and 0% EzyPay-i instalments do count. Making five or more purchases at the same shop on the same day will disqualify you.
You can’t join if you work for Maybank, if your Maybank account is overdue or suspended, or if you cancelled a Maybank credit card in the past six months and are now reapplying. Other terms and conditions apply.
