Bank Islam Waives Overseas Transfer Fees Until 15 August 2026
Author Avatar

If you send money overseas through Bank Islam, you will not pay the bank’s usual processing fee for the next month. The bank’s Zero Fees Global Transfer Campaign runs from 15 July until 15 August 2026, waiving the cable charge on foreign outward telegraphic transfers (FOTT) made through BIMB Mobile and BIMB Web.

The cable charge is the fee Bank Islam normally adds each time you send money to an account outside Malaysia. It is RM26 for transfers below RM5,000, and RM24 for transfers above that amount. During the campaign period, both charges are waived in full.

How To Get The Waiver

There is no sign-up form and no registration. As long as you hold a Bank Islam account and make your transfer through BIMB Mobile or BIMB Web during the campaign period, the waiver applies automatically. Transfers made over the counter at a branch are not part of the offer, so you will need to use the bank’s digital channels to qualify.

Only Bank Islam’s own standard outward telegraphic transfer fee is covered. Everything else that usually comes with an international transfer remains payable by you. That includes correspondent bank charges, intermediary and agent bank fees, charges imposed by the receiving bank overseas, foreign exchange spread, and any taxes or duties.

The foreign exchange spread in particular can cost more than the cable charge itself, since it is built into the exchange rate you are offered rather than shown as a separate fee. The waiver removes the RM24 or RM26 cable charge and nothing else.

How Much You Could Save

A parent transferring monthly allowance to a child studying in Australia would save RM24 to RM26 per transfer, or roughly RM50 if they send money twice a month..

For a one-off transfer, the saving is RM24 or RM26. If you have a planned payment coming up, such as an overseas tuition instalment or a payment to a foreign supplier, timing it to fall within the campaign period and you’ll enjoy the waiver with no extra steps. Before you transfer, compare the total cost, including the exchange rate offered, against remittance services you already use, since the rate can differ by more than the waived fee.

Do note that the campaign may end earlier than 15 August 2026 if it reaches its set target, and Bank Islam reserves the right to change the campaign dates. If you have a transfer planned, sending it earlier in the window reduces the risk of missing the waiver.

Full terms and conditions are available on Bank Islam’s website.
