Bank Muamalat Launches ATLAS, A Shariah-Compliant Digital Banking Platform
Author Avatar

Bank Muamalat Malaysia Berhad has unveiled ATLAS, its Shariah-compliant digital banking platform, marking a significant step in the bank’s transformation into a digital-first Islamic financial institution. The official launch event runs from 29 April to 3 May 2026 at IOI Mall Putrajaya.

What ATLAS Offers

ATLAS is designed as a fully digital platform, removing the need for physical branch visits for everyday banking. Customers can open an ATLAS Savings Account-i using only their MyKad, with a minimum initial deposit of RM0.01 to activate the account. There is no minimum balance requirement and no annual maintenance or service fee.

Deposits in the ATLAS Savings Account-i are protected by Perbadanan Insurans Deposit Malaysia (PIDM) up to RM250,000 per depositor. The account also comes with a Savings Pouch feature, which allows customers to create up to three sub-accounts for specific savings goals, each earning profit at a rate of up to 2.25% per annum. A Round-Up Booster feature automatically rounds up transactions to the nearest RM1 or RM10 and transfers the difference into a chosen Savings Pouch.

Islamic And Lifestyle Features

Bank Muamalat says ATLAS integrates a range of Islamic features within the app, including prayer times and alerts, a Zikir Counter, Solat Tracker, Islamic Calendar, Doa section, Kiblat direction, and a mosque locator. A Faith Summary Dashboard gives users an overview of their daily Islamic activities. Future enhancements such as aqiqah and qurban services are also in the pipeline.

On the lifestyle side, ATLAS includes a tiered Loyalty and Rewards programme where customers earn points through everyday banking activities such as account creation and referrals. Points can be redeemed for e-vouchers from participating merchants.

Security Features

ATLAS includes a Kill Switch feature that allows users to immediately block all login attempts if they suspect their credentials have been compromised. The app also enforces a 12-hour cooling-off period for new device registrations and changes to transaction limits. Daily transaction limits are set at RM10,000 for DuitNow transfers, intrabank transfers, and DuitNow QR payments.

One current limitation worth noting: ATM withdrawals are not yet available directly from the ATLAS platform.

Launch Promotion

Customers who register for an ATLAS account and activate it will be eligible to participate in a lucky draw featuring premium prizes during the launch period until 3 May at IOI Mall Putrajaya.

What The Bank Says

Datuk Khairul Kamarudin, President and Chief Executive Officer of Bank Muamalat, said ATLAS goes beyond a conventional banking application. He described it as a platform designed to reimagine Islamic banking as a seamless, everyday companion that integrates financial management with lifestyle and values.

He added that ATLAS is built on the principle of Amanah, delivering solutions that are innovative while remaining aligned with the long-term wellbeing of customers. He also highlighted the platform’s role in expanding access to secure and Shariah-compliant financial services as Malaysia moves towards a more digital economy.

What Comes Next

Bank Muamalat plans to expand ATLAS with financing and investment solutions within the year. The bank says it aims to evolve the platform into a comprehensive digital financial ecosystem supporting wealth creation and long-term financial resilience for its customers.
