Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) has said that the central bank, along with all banks in Kuala Lumpur, will operate as usual on 3 December 2021 (Friday). This is following an earlier announcement by the Federal Territories Minister, Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim, declaring the day as a public holiday for the Federal Territories.

“Bank Negara Malaysia wishes to announce that Bank Negara Malaysia and all banks, including branch operations, in the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur will be open and operating as usual on Friday, 3 December 2021. In this regard, financial market transactions in the foreign exchange, money and over-the-counter bond markets will continue to function as usual,” BNM said in its brief press release.

Last night, Datuk Seri Shahidan declared Friday as a public holiday for Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, and Labuan in celebration of Kuala Lumpur City FC’s victory over Johor Darul Ta’zim in the Malaysia Cup. The win came after a long wait of 32 years, with the title last won in 1989.
