Red Hat, the world’s leading provider of open source solutions, has announced CIMB Bank Malaysia as the winner of the Red Hat APAC Innovation Award 2024 for Malaysia. The recognition celebrates CIMB Bank’s remarkable achievements in leveraging Red Hat solutions to meet the evolving needs of its customers.

In a rapidly changing global business environment, the Asia Pacific (APAC) region continues to grow at an impressive pace, with dynamic economies and diverse markets driving opportunities for businesses of all sizes. Technology plays a crucial role in this growth, enabling enterprises to innovate and scale efficiently.

This year’s Red Hat APAC Innovation Awards, themed “Unlock What’s Next,” honour organisations that have used open source technologies to transform their operations and drive innovation. CIMB Bank stood out for its outstanding implementation of Red Hat solutions, specifically in the categories of Digital Transformation and Hybrid Cloud Infrastructure.

CIMB Bank embarked on a transformation journey in 2023 to enhance its operational resilience and improve system stability. Recognising the critical role of technology in achieving its strategic goals, the bank partnered with Red Hat to modernise its systems. Through the adoption of Red Hat OpenShift as its containerised, secure platform, CIMB Bank has improved agility and operational efficiency, enabling it to remain competitive in the dynamic financial services industry.

The collaboration has proven transformative, allowing CIMB Bank to mitigate potential disruptions while elevating its ability to serve customers and stakeholders effectively. This partnership demonstrates how open source technology can empower organisations to overcome challenges and achieve sustained growth.

“The transformation journey after deploying Red Hat OpenShift was a success for us. The standardised platform has not only reduced costs and risks on an organisational level, but also paved the way for continuous innovation and business growth,” said Ros Aziah Mohd Yusoff, Group CTO of CIMB Bank Malaysia.

Despite the uncertain economic conditions of 2024, Red Hat highlighted the significant milestones achieved by its customers across the APAC region. “Open source remains the key to helping organisations uncover what’s next and pave the way for success with the right tools and expertise,” said Marjet Andriesse, Senior Vice President and General Manager, APJC, Red Hat.

The Red Hat APAC Innovation Awards additionally celebrated 31 winners from 11 countries, showcasing how businesses across the region have successfully leveraged Red Hat solutions to overcome challenges and pioneer new customer-centric solutions.
