EXIM Bank has expanded its partnership with the Malaysian Federation of the Deaf (MFD) through its Mawaddah Initiative, continuing its efforts to support Deaf entrepreneurs. Over the past three years, the initiative has channelled more than RM2 million to benefit more than 500 people nationwide through entrepreneurship, financial assistance and community development programmes.
The Mawaddah Initiative is EXIM Bank’s Islamic Social Finance platform, which supports programmes in entrepreneurship, education, healthcare, humanitarian assistance and strategic partnerships for underserved communities. Since 2023, it has delivered more than 10 programmes and partnerships across Malaysia.
While the latest partnership focuses on Deaf entrepreneurs, the Mawaddah Initiative also supports other underserved communities through programmes covering halal ecosystem development, Islamic financial literacy, education, healthcare and humanitarian assistance. It also contributes to initiatives such as SME Bank’s iTEKAD ISHRAF 4.0 programme, which supports entrepreneurs from low-income and vulnerable groups through funding, training and business coaching.
The Entrepreneurship Carnival, held from 1 to 3 July at EXIM Bank’s headquarters, featured businesses run by Deaf entrepreneurs across the food and beverage, retail, beauty and handmade products sectors. The event gave participating entrepreneurs greater exposure and an opportunity to connect with potential customers.
