HLB Credit Cardholders Can Now Apply For Annual Fee Waivers Via HLB Connect Online
Author Avatar

Hong Leong Bank (HLB) has updated its HLB Connect Online banking service with a new feature that lets eligible credit cardholders seamlessly apply for an annual fee waiver. This is provided they meet specified spend requirements, or tap into selected banking services with the bank.

“If your credit card has an annual fee, you can now waive this fee by simply accumulating six (6) spends on your credit card within a year, or requesting for any of these payment plans (i.e. balance transfer, quick cash, or flexi payment plan),” the bank said in a notice sent to its cardholders. This means that cardholders will no longer need to specifically make calls to HLB’s customer service just to request for a waiver of their cards’ annual fees, and can instead do so at their own convenience. This update also frees up the bank’s representatives to attend to other urgent matters such as scam reports.

In our quick check with HLB’s customer service, it was also revealed that this new feature will be applicable to all HLB credit cards with annual fees, with the exception of the HLB Wise card (Gold and Platinum) and the Emirates HLB cards. The Emirates HLB cards include the Emirates HLB Platinum Card, the Emirates HLB World Card, and the Emirates HLB World Elite Card.

Already made live for use, eligible cardholders who wish to tap into the feature can do so by logging in to their HLB Connect Online account, and then accessing their Credit Card account. From there, click on “Apply For Waiver”, select your preferred method to get your annual fee waived – and you’re done!

Aside from the new annual fee waiver application feature, other credit card services that are also available on HLB Connect Online include new credit card activation, notification of overseas travel, and application for increase in credit limit. You can also temporarily freeze and unfreeze your cards (available only on HLB Connect Online, and not the HLB Connect app). You can find out more here.
