Budget 2021 has been officially passed in Parliament after getting through its third and final reading in the Dewan Rakyat today.
A total of 111 Members of Parliament (MPs) voted in favour of the national Budget proposed by the Perikatan Nasional government, while 108 MPs voted against the Bill. One MP was absent during the vote carried out today.
Earlier on 26 November, the Bill had been passed at the policy stage with a voice vote. The Budget was then debated at the committee stage and allocations for all 27 ministries were scrutinised and subsequently passed. The Bill will now go to the Senate and then submitted to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong for royal assent.
