The SAVE 2.0 programme, which allows Malaysians to claim RM200 vouchers to use on purchases of energy-efficient air conditioners and fridges, is now open for registration. First announced during the tabling of Budget 2021, the programme is an initiative by the Sustainable Energy Development Authority (SEDA) in collaboration with e-commerce platform Shopee.

Find out more about the SAVE 2.0 programme and how to claim your RM200 voucher here.

What is SAVE 2.0?

SAVE 2.0 is a programme that offers a RM200 e-rebate to domestic households that purchase energy-efficient air conditioners or refrigerators. An electrical appliance is considered energy-efficient if it has a 4 or 5 star rating by the Energy Commission.

The programme is aimed at increasing public awareness on buying energy efficient products that will save electricity and to increase the number of energy efficient appliances in the market. SAVE 2.0 was given an allocation of RM30 million under Budget 2021 and is expected to benefit 140,000 households.

Who is eligible for SAVE 2.0?

You are eligible for SAVE 2.0 if you are a Malaysian citizen and account holder/user of a registered domestic account with an electricity utility company such as Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB), or Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB).

The e-rebate can be used for the purchase of an air conditioner or refrigerator with a 4 or 5 star energy efficient rating in the year of 2021. Each billed account is eligible for one e-rebate and the vouchers are given out on a first-come, first-served basis.

The overall quota for the e-rebates will be divided between Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah, and Sarawak to balance out the number of consumers in urban and rural areas.

How to claim the RM200 e-rebate

You will need to register via the Shopee app in order to redeem the RM200 voucher – so if you don’t already have the Shopee app, you will need to download it via Google Play or the App Store. Click “Register Now” on the Shopee announcement page or scan the QR code below to access a simple registration form in the app.

The form requires you to provide your electricity bill number, Malaysian IC number, full name, and your status or relationship to the accountholder if the account is not listed under your name. After that, you’re officially registered and you will be informed of the status of your application within 14 days. Once your application is approved, the RM200 voucher will be credited to your Shopee Wallet.

If you encounter any difficulties during the registration process, you can contact SEDA Malaysia at +603-8870 5800.
