The My50 monthly pass for Prasarana buses and trains in the Klang Valley will continue next year. KTM Komuter riders are also getting their own version, called MyKomuter50. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced both when he tabled Budget 2027 in the Dewan Rakyat on 9 October.
According to Anwar, MyKomuter50 could save KTM Komuter riders an average of up to RM160 a month. Its price and start date haven’t been announced yet.
My50 will continue for its 300,000 riders. It’s a RM50 pass that gives you 30 days of unlimited rides on Prasarana’s LRT, MRT, Monorail, BRT, and Rapid KL buses in the Klang Valley.
Last year, My50 carried on even though the Budget 2026 speech didn’t mention it. This year, it’s been confirmed by Anwar in his speech, so regular riders can keep planning around the RM50 monthly cost.
MyKomuter50 is a new pass for KTM Komuter, and about 40,000 riders are expected to use it. Anwar said it will save them an average of up to RM160 a month. Over a year, that’s up to RM1,920 (our calculation).
Anwar didn’t give the pass price, the start date, or which routes it covers. The name suggests it will cost RM50 like My50, but KTMB hasn’t confirmed this yet.
Free public transport passes will continue for 360,000 schoolchildren, people with disabilities (OKU), and children under six. The government will also spend RM270 million on more stop-and-go bus services in major cities.
Train breakdowns and delays have been a common complaint, and Anwar said Prasarana and KTMB have been told to fix this quickly. Prasarana is spending more than RM3.4 billion to repair its rail lines, and the government will buy 42 new trains for ETS and KTM Komuter. The East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) Phase 1, from Kota Bharu to Gombak, is expected to start running this December.
My50 only covers Prasarana’s trains and buses, and MyKomuter50 is for KTM Komuter. If your daily trip uses both, such as KTM Komuter to KL Sentral and then the LRT, Anwar didn’t say whether one pass will cover the whole journey.
Before MyKomuter50 launches, add up what you spend on Komuter fares in a normal month. If it’s more than the pass price, the pass will save you money from the first month. Watch KTMB’s official channels for the launch date and the final price.
