Author Avatar

STR recipients will get more SARA money next year. Under Budget 2027, the government will spend RM16 billion on STR SARA, up from RM15 billion. In 2022, it was RM8 billion.

How Much SARA You’ll Get In 2027

If you receive STR, you’ll get SARA of up to RM150 a month, or up to RM1,800 a year. Up to 9 million people will get SARA.

If you’re 18 or older and don’t receive STR, you’ll get SARA MADANI. You’ll get RM100 twice, once before Aidilfitri and once before Merdeka Day, which marks its 70th year. That’s RM200 in total, for up to 13 million people, including middle-income earners (M40).

Where You Can Spend SARA

You’ll also be able to use SARA in more places. It now covers fresh food at 216 FAMA Pasar Tani and Tamu outlets nationwide. There are 15,000 shops that accept SARA, including 6,800 small grocers and cooperatives. The government will raise the number of small grocers to 10,000 before the end of 2026.

SARA is part of a larger package. Total subsidies, aid and incentives for 2027 are more than RM80 billion. That includes RM40 billion in fuel subsidies and nearly RM3.3 billion in JKM aid.
