Standard Chartered Bank may be launching a new credit card soon, and it may be called the Standard Chartered Smart credit card. This comes following a recent notice that was released by the bank recently.
In the notice, Standard Chartered announced that selected Visa Rewards Platinum cardholders “will have their credit card converted to Standard Chartered Smart credit card, with revised benefits.”. This “Standard Chartered Smart” credit card is not listed anywhere on SC’s Malaysian website, so it is very likely that it will be a new card that may replace or live alongside the Visa Rewards Platinum card.
After some research, we found that SC does have a credit card with a similar name in the Indian market: the DigiSmart credit card. Providing benefits that primarily reward online spend, DigiSmart credit cardholders can get up to 20% rebate when they make specific purchases with selected online merchants. The rebates include fashion, food, and travel expenses – among several others.

That said, it remains to be seen whether this Standard Chartered Smart credit card will offer benefits that are similar to the DigiSmart credit card. We will continue to keep an eye out for any updates of a new credit card launch by Standard Chartered, so do stay tuned.
