OCBC will raise the daily cumulative contactless spending limit on all its credit cards from RM1,000 to RM3,000 from 3 August 2026. The change applies automatically to both new and existing OCBC credit cards, so you do not need to do anything for the higher limit to kick in.
The per-transaction cap stays the same. Any single tap-and-go payment above RM250 will still require your PIN, as it does now. The RM3,000 figure covers your total contactless spending added up across the day, before the card asks for your PIN again.
Once your contactless spending for the day adds up to RM3,000, the terminal will prompt you for your PIN on the next transaction. Completing the PIN transaction resets your cumulative limit, and you can go back to tapping as usual.
Most people will rarely hit the ceiling. RM3,000 in taps within a single day is a lot of petrol and groceries. The higher limit is aimed at days when you make several larger payments back to back, such as paying for a family dinner and settling a clinic bill without the card interrupting you for a PIN partway through.
RM3,000 is only the default. If you prefer tighter control over your card, OCBC lets you set your own daily cumulative contactless limit from the options below.
| Daily Cumulative Contactless Limit | How To Set It |
| RM1,000 | OCBC Contact Centre (03-8317 5000) or any OCBC branch |
| RM2,000 | Same channels as above |
| RM3,000 (default) | Applied automatically from 3 August 2026 |
| RM4,000 | OCBC Contact Centre or any OCBC branch |
| RM5,000 | OCBC Contact Centre or any OCBC branch |
There is no in-app option for now, so setting a custom limit means a phone call or a branch visit. If you were comfortable with the old RM1,000 limit, you can keep it. Just tell the bank before or after the change takes effect. Taps of RM250 and below go through without a PIN, and these no-PIN payments can add up to your full daily limit.
