RHB Bank has announced that the launch of the new benefits for its RHB Shell Visa Credit Card/-i, originally scheduled for 28 July 2025, has been deferred until further notice [PDF].

The bank issued a brief notice to its customers, stating that it is committed to ensuring the best experience for its customers and will provide updates on any new developments regarding the initiative.

What Were the Planned Changes?

The previously announced changes were set to introduce a tiered cashback system for online and contactless spending, in addition to the existing fuel benefits. Cardholders were to earn up to 8% cashback on these categories, with the rate depending on their total monthly spending. The update also included a plan to convert all existing RHB Shell Visa Credit Cards to the new design automatically.

What Happens Now?

With the launch now postponed, the existing benefits for the RHB Shell Visa Credit Card/-i will remain in place for the time being. Cardholders will continue to earn up to 12% cashback on petrol spending at Shell stations nationwide, tiered according to their monthly expenditure. The previously announced changes to online and contactless spending cashback will not take effect on 28 July as planned.

RHB has not provided a new timeline for the rollout of the revised benefits. The bank has advised customers that it will keep them updated on any new developments.

The worst part is the requirements of minimum spending of each cashback category from rm250/rm500, it’s ridiculous and unacceptable.
