Following its official launch this morning, the much-hyped Maybank Grab Mastercard Platinum credit card has been revealed to offer two significant benefits: same-day online approval and instant issuance of a digital card upon approval for Maybank2u users. It will be the first credit card in the country to offer such advantages.

Maybank is clearly aiming to bring a faster and more convenient user experience to its customers via the card as the digital card – which is built into the Maybank2u platform – can be immediately used for digital transactions (such as e-commerce and of course, on Grab). This fully-digitalised application process substantially cuts the usual waiting period that comes with applying for a new credit card, which can take anywhere from a week to even a month in some cases.

Currently, the fully digitalised application process and issuance of the digital card is available only for Maybank2u customers. Non-Maybank2u customers will need to head over to the Maybank2u website to apply, and the physical credit cards will be issued within 10 business days after their applications have been approved. The Maybank Grab Mastercard Platinum is also Malaysia’s first dual-faced credit card, available in black and white options.
