Affin Bank is updating the benefits of the Affin Islamic Platinum Mastercard to reward its credit cardholders with improved incentives. Effective from 1 August 2021, the enhanced features include a revised AFFIN Rewards Points earning system, the provision of complimentary access to the Plaza Premium Lounges within Malaysia, and a lifetime waiver of the annual fee.

At present, the Affin Islamic Platinum Mastercard allows you to earn 1x and 2x AFFIN Rewards Points for local and overseas transactions, respectively. It also offers a one-year waiver on the annual fee, with the fees for subsequent years to be waived as well if you carry out a minimum of 12 retail transactions per year.

Come 1 August, the benefits of the card will be enhanced to let you earn 3x AFFIN Rewards Points for dining, groceries, and online/e-commerce transactions, with 1x AFFIN Rewards Point for all other retail transactions. On top of that, you will also be able to earn 2x complimentary access to the Plaza Premium Lounges located within Malaysia, provided you spend a minimum of RM2,500 in your latest credit card statement. Finally, the annual fee is now unconditionally waived for life.

With this update, the Affin Islamic Platinum Mastercard is essentially being revamped from a rewards points credit card catering to frequent travellers, to a card intended for daily use. This is likely due to the extended travel restrictions imposed worldwide because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Do note as well that along with these enhanced benefits, the Affin Islamic Platinum Mastercard will also be sporting a new card face. While Affin Bank has yet to reveal the updated card face, it said that existing cardholders can carry on using their current cards with the new benefits, and that they will receive the redesigned Affin Islamic Platinum Mastercard upon renewal.
