Public Bank and Public Islamic Bank have announced the extension of repayment relief to loan and financing customers impacted by the recent floods in Johor.

Tan Sri Dr. Tay Ah Lek, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Public Bank, expressed deep concern for the affected communities, pointing out that the recent floods in Johor have left many communities struggling with livelihood difficulties. “Public Bank remains committed to support the affected customers. A range of financial relief are available for customers who have suffered damages and losses due to the floods,” he said.

The repayment relief measures are also applicable to other districts identified by Agensi Pengurusan Bencana Negara as flood disaster areas across the country. The relief includes a deferment of monthly instalments for loan and financing facilities of up to six months. This applies to house financing, hire purchase, and credit cards for individual customers, as well as SME loan and financing facilities for affected businesses.

In addition, charges will be waived for the replacement of banking-related documents, such as bank cards, passbooks, and fixed deposit or Term Deposits-i receipts that have been destroyed or lost in the floods.

Public Bank has also initiated immediate collaboration with its subsidiary, Lonpac Insurance Bhd, to facilitate the swift processing of insurance claims for affected customers. These claims cover losses insured under policies underwritten by Lonpac.

Flood-affected customers are encouraged to reach out to the Bank for assistance with repayment relief. Public Bank is also a participating financial institution for Bank Negara Malaysia’s Disaster Relief Facility, which aims to support businesses in repairing or replacing flood-damaged assets such as plant and machinery, as well as to provide working capital.

Customers seeking to apply for the repayment relief or requiring further information are advised to visit any Public Bank branch or contact the Bank’s general line at 03-2170 8000. For insurance-related enquiries, customers may contact Lonpac at 03-2262 8688.
