Author Avatar

Malaysian homeowners and tenants can now apply for Houseowner and Householder Insurance/Takaful Plans directly through the MAE app. These plans provide protection for both the structure of a home and the belongings inside, offering flexible coverage and affordable contributions.

What Houseowner Insurance/Takaful Covers

Houseowner Insurance/Takaful is designed to protect the physical structure of a house. This includes the main building such as walls, roof, floors, and windows, as well as permanent fixtures and fittings. The policy also extends to storage areas like garages and sheds, along with exterior features including gates and fences.

What Householder Insurance/Takaful Covers

Householder Insurance/Takaful focuses on the contents within a house. It provides coverage for household goods such as furniture, appliances, and electronics, along with valuable possessions like clothing, jewellery, art, and equipment.

Key Benefits of Coverage

Both Houseowner and Householder Insurance/Takaful plans come with high coverage options of up to RM5 million. Applicants who sign up online through the MAE app will also enjoy a 15% discount.

Annual contributions are affordable, starting from as low as RM111.21 per year. The actual premium or contribution amount will vary depending on the selected coverage, applicable taxes such as the 8% SST, and underwriting assessments.

The plans protect against losses or damages caused by fire, lightning, gas explosions, floods, or burst pipes. Natural disasters including earthquakes, hurricanes, typhoons, and windstorms are also covered. Additionally, the insurance includes protection against theft involving forcible and violent entry, as well as impact damage caused by vehicles or animals.

Optional Extended Coverage

Policyholders have the option to extend their coverage for additional risks. This includes riots, strikes, and malicious acts, unoccupancy of the house for more than 90 days, and damage caused by landslip or subsidence.

Who Can Apply

The insurance plans are open to homeowners, landlords, and tenants in Malaysia. For homeowners, the policy ensures protection of the building structure, while tenants and landlords benefit from coverage of household contents and valuable items.

Applications can be completed conveniently through the MAE app, giving customers quick access to protection without the need for lengthy paperwork.
