ShopeePay has partnered with Allianz General Insurance Company (Malaysia) Berhad to introduce two new personal accident insurance plans. The initiative aims to make essential coverage more accessible and affordable, particularly for underserved communities in Malaysia.
The plans are priced at annual premiums of RM50 and RM75. They are open to all Malaysian citizens aged 18 to 59 and can be purchased directly through the ShopeePay or Shopee app.
Both plans are included under the government’s Perlindungan Tenang Voucher 3.0 (PTV) programme, launched recently. Through PTV, recipients of the government’s Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah cash aid are eligible to receive a RM30 subsidy.
This subsidy can be redeemed via the ShopeePay or Shopee app, reducing the effective premium to RM24 or RM51 per year, inclusive of sales and service tax (SST), depending on the chosen plan.
The level of protection varies according to the plan selected. Key benefits include coverage for death or permanent disability of RM30,000 or RM50,000.
Policyholders are also entitled to daily hospital income of RM50 or RM100 for up to 30 days per year, along with medical expense reimbursement of up to RM500 or RM750. These hospital and medical benefits are applicable only at government hospitals.
In addition, both plans provide emergency flood evacuation relief, valued at RM500 or RM750, offering support in the event of natural disasters.
According to the joint statement, the collaboration supports Bank Negara Malaysia’s Perlindungan Tenang initiative, which seeks to enhance financial inclusion by providing affordable protection for underserved communities.
ShopeePay highlighted that the move is consistent with its “Simple Finance for All” mission, which focuses on making financial products easier to access and understand for all Malaysians.
