Bursa Malaysia Launches Free E-Learning Platform For Retail Investors, Bursa Academy

Bursa Malaysia has launched Bursa Academy, an e-learning platform intended to help educate retail investors across the securities, derivatives, and Islamic capital markets. In the long run, it aims to become a reliable source in promoting investor education and boosting the country’s financial literacy.

The comprehensive one-stop e-learning platform is free to access, and employs a mix of knowledge sessions and interactive gamification to coach its users. The learning materials offered cater to investors at all levels, whether you’re a beginner or an experienced investor looking to upskill yourself. The site also has a My Folder tab for your personal use, where you can bookmark your interests and learning materials.

Additionally, Bursa Academy is designed to be a multilingual platform, although it is currently available only in Bahasa Malaysia and English. Its Mandarin version is scheduled to be introduced in the next quarter.

“We place great importance in financial education and are continuously working to provide the tools and foundation that can help investors make informed decisions on investments. Today’s financial markets are getting increasingly complex so the usage of digital technology to disseminate information more effectively to a wider section of the public is essential,” said the chief executive officer of Bursa Malaysia, Datuk Muhamad Umar Swift.

Aside from Bursa Academy, Bursa Malaysia had also previously launched a one-of-a-kind virtual education platform called the Mirror, Learn, and Trade (MLT) programme to educate investors in the market by offering a mirror market of the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange where users can “trade” using virtual cash.
