An Indonesian man from Riau chose to include a unique gift as part of his wedding hantaran to his bride – Bitcoin worth 1.6 billion rupiah or about RM451,167.60 in total.

Raja Muhammad Hasbi, 47, gifted the cryptocurrency to his now-wife, Bau Tenri Abeng, 31, as part of the customary hantaran gift given by the groom to the bride’s family. The two Bitcoin are worth about 800 million rupiah or RM225,583.80 each.

Besides that, the groom also sent along three pieces of gold, a set of jewellery, and a prayer set.

According to the bride, both she and her husband are avid investors of Bitcoin. “We have been investing in Bitcoin since 2009,” she revealed, stating that she will be adding the Bitcoin she received as part of her hantaran into her own account.

“I definitely won’t be liquidating this but am putting it straight into my account for now,” she said.
