AirAsia is offering fixed price promo tickets that start from RM298 for late-night flights between Peninsular and East Malaysia, in conjunction with the upcoming Chinese New Year. Already available for sale, the booking period for these one-way tickets will continue until 15 February 2024, with the travel period set between 5 to 15 February 2024.

In a statement, AirAsia said that the offer will be applicable for selected late-night flights that start from Kuala Lumpur or Johor Bahru to destinations in Sabah and Sarawak. Specifically, flights to Sarawak will cost RM298 one-way, whereas flights to Sabah will be priced at RM348 one-way. Here’s the full list of flights for your reference:

Ticket prices (one-way)Starting Point
RM298– Kuala Lumpur to Kuching, Sibu, Bintulu, or Miri
– Johor Bahru to Kuching, Sibu, or Miri
RM348– Kuala Lumpur to Kota Kinabalu, Sandakan, or Tawau
– Johor Bahru to Kota Kinabalu

A total of 134 late-night flights will be allocated for these fixed low fares, complementing the existing 408 weekly flights with regular fares to Sabah, Sarawak, and Labuan.

Group chief executive officer of AirAsia Aviation Group, Bo Lingam said that this latest fixed fare promo is one of the carrier’s efforts in reuniting Malaysians with their families at an affordable price during festive periods.

“As we usher in the Lunar New Year, we are committed to strengthening our support in flying our guests back home to reunite with their families affordably. Today, we are pleased to reintroduce the fixed low fares for late-night flights between Peninsular and East Malaysia with around 25,000 seats for the upcoming festive period,” Lingam said.

Meanwhile, Minister of Transport, Anthony Loke commented that AirAsia’s promo is in line with the government’s initiatives to support Malaysians who travel often between Peninsular and East Malaysia. These include the FLYsiswa programme for public university students, which offers RM300 subsidy for flight tickets, as well as the RM599 base-fare subsidy scheme for festive periods that was announced last month.

To note, the RM599 base-fare subsidy scheme will also be applicable for the upcoming Chinese New Year, and is valid for flights that are flying on 7 to 9 February 2024. With tax included, these tickets will come up to a total of RM674, with passengers being able to check in 20kg of luggage.
