Budi Diesel Early Access Kicks Off With 24,000 Transactions

The early access phase of the Budi Madani Diesel (Budi Diesel) programme is now live, with eligible private diesel vehicle owners in Peninsular Malaysia purchasing subsidised diesel at RM2.15 per litre through MyKad verification at petrol stations.

The Ministry of Finance (MOF) confirmed that nearly 24,000 transactions were recorded on the first day, involving close to one million litres of subsidised diesel worth RM2.1 million. Around 10,000 people used the early access window, and the ministry said no serious complaints or system issues were reported.

The early access period runs until the full nationwide rollout on July 1, when the subsidised price drops further to RM2.10 per litre.

Vehicle Owners Can Now Transfer Their Diesel Quota

One of the biggest changes under the improved Budi Diesel scheme is the ability to transfer your subsidised diesel quota to a family member who regularly drives your vehicle. You can do this through the Budi Madani Diesel portal.

Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan said this was introduced after the government received feedback from the public, particularly from rural communities in Sabah and Sarawak where children often purchase diesel on behalf of their parents even though they are not the registered vehicle owners.

Your Monthly Subsidised Diesel Quota

If you own an eligible private diesel vehicle, you receive a basic monthly quota of up to 200 litres of subsidised diesel. Pickup truck and four-wheel-drive (4WD) owners can apply for an additional 100 litres, bringing the total to 300 litres per month.

MOF said the Budi Madani portal received over 13,000 new applications for the extra 100 litres as of 11am on the first day of early access alone.

Around 700,000 eligible private diesel vehicle owners are covered under the programme.

Full Nationwide Rollout Starts July 1

The early access phase is meant to catch any issues before the full rollout. From July 1, eligible private diesel vehicle owners nationwide, including in Sabah and Sarawak, will be able to purchase subsidised diesel at RM2.10 per litre using MyKad verification.

If you operate a public transport, logistics, or eligible commercial vehicle, your diesel subsidy is not affected by Budi Diesel. These sectors continue to receive subsidised diesel through the Subsidised Diesel Control System (SKDS) under the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN), based on vehicle category and operational needs. SKDS applications can be made through KPDN’s MySubsidi website.

MOF said it will continue monitoring the rollout and adjusting the programme based on public and industry feedback. You can check your eligibility, apply for the additional diesel quota, or get more information through the official Budi Madani website.
