JPJ is opening bidding for its H series number plates on Malaysia Day, 16 September 2026. It’ll be the last single-letter number plate series the department offers. JPJ will announce the bidding results on 21 September.
The series covers numbers from H1 to H9999, and bidding is only available online through the JPJeBid app or MySIKAP portal.
JPJ says the letter H represents “Harmoni”, or harmony, to mark Malaysia Day and celebrate Malaysians living together as one country.
Taxis also use H plates, but their registration numbers always pair H with a state letter. For example, a Perak taxi may have an “HA” registration number, with A representing Perak. The new series only uses the letter H, followed by a number.
JPJ sorts each number into one of five categories, and each category has its own minimum bid.

These are starting prices, rather than fixed prices. If multiple bidders want the same number, the winning bid can go much higher. Numbers such as H1 and H8 are likely to attract more bids.
JPJ also charges a RM10 service fee for every number you bid on. This fee isn’t refundable, even if you don’t win the number.
You’ll need a MyKad and a JPJeBid account to take part in the bidding. Once logged in, search for the H series number you want, accept the terms and conditions, and place your bid. You pay with a credit or debit card issued by a Malaysian bank.
When you place a bid, the bank holds the full bid amount on your card. It doesn’t charge you yet, but the amount on hold lowers your available credit or account balance while the bid is active.
If another bidder offers more and you decide to raise your bid, the bank holds the extra amount too. If you win, the bank charges the final bid amount to your card. If you lose, the bank releases the money, although the timing varies by bank and may take several days.
If you win a number, you must register it to a vehicle within 12 months from the date of the official approval letter. You can do this at a JPJ office.
If you place RM2,500 bids on two attractive numbers, the bank could hold RM5,000 on your card until bidding ends, on top of RM20 in non-refundable service fees.
Before placing multiple bids, check that your card has enough available credit or balance to cover them. Decide how much you’re willing to spend on each number before you bid, since the winning bid can go far above the minimum.
