The Employees Provident Fund (EPF) has alerted the public of scammers who are now sharing ads regarding applications for the special RM10,000 withdrawal facility.
“Beware of ads about the application of the special withdrawal facility which are being shared on the social media. More information on the application process will be announced in the near future,” the provident fund posted on its social media. It also cautioned the public to avoid falling for such scams as the EPF has not appointed any third parties to manage the application of the RM10,000 withdrawal facility.
As you can see from the image above, the ads of these scams have been designed to look quite legitimate, such as by bearing the EPF’s logo. However, you can always take precaution by checking the domain name provided; the EPF’s domain name should always end with “.gov.my”. If you’re uncertain, you can also contact the EPF to confirm or clarify matters.
For context, the special RM10,000 withdrawal facility was announced yesterday, allowing EPF members who are still struggling from the economic effects of Covid-19 to withdraw between RM50 to RM10,000. Applications are slated to take place between 1 to 30 April 2022, with payments to be disbursed starting from 20 April.
