Government Announces Additional BKM Cash Aid For B40 Households, Individuals
Author Avatar

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob has announced that the government will be providing an additional Bantuan Keluarga Malaysia (BKM) cash aid of up to RM100 for the B40 income group. This is in a bid to help them cope with the rising cost of living.

Under this additional aid, B40 households will be entitled to an additional RM100, on top of the existing amount that is already being provided under the BKM programme. Meanwhile, B40 individuals will receive an extra RM50. According to the prime minister, these additional cash aids will be disbursed in stages starting from 27 June 2022 (coming Monday), and will be included along with the upcoming BKM payment.

At present, the BKM programme – which was introduced under Budget 2022 – provides up to RM2,500 cash assistance for B40 individuals and households. Payments are to be disbursed in four phases, with the second phase set to take place this month.

With an allocation of RM630 million, the prime minister said that this additional cash aid is expected to benefit about 8.6 million BKM recipients. This consists of 4 million households, 1.2 million senior citizens (single individuals), and 3.4 million single individuals.
