The government has announced an exemption on toll fees for motorists travelling along the highway on 8 and 9 February 2024, in celebration of the Chinese New Year. This exemption is applicable only to Class 1 private vehicles, at all toll plazas except for those at the national border (Sultan Iskandar Building Toll Plaza and Tanjung Kupang Toll Plaza in Johor).
Announced by Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi, this toll exemption is expected to set the government back by approximately RM42.99 million. However, it is offered as it is in line with the government’s commitment to alleviate the high cost of living, as well as to prioritise the welfare of the people.

“Safety and responsible driving practices are emphasised to ensure all highway users reach their destinations safely, making the Chinese New Year celebration more meaningful with their loved ones. Users are also advised to take adequate breaks, ensure sufficient balances in their Touch ‘n Go (TNG) cards, and verify their (TNG) eWallet before embarking on their journeys,” Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi further said.
The minister also urged the public to plan their journeys ahead of time and adhere to suggested travel time advisories (ITA) published by concessionaires for a smoother journey ahead.
