From today, 5 October 2026, you can’t renew your road tax or driving licence through MyEG. The Road Transport Department (JPJ) has suspended MyEG Sdn Bhd and Zetrix AI Bhd, the two MYEG Group companies that collected payments for JPJ. The suspension started at 12.01am this morning.
JPJ said it looked at whether the two companies had kept to the terms of their agreement with the department, and at what they still hadn’t done or settled. It hasn’t given an end date. Transport Minister Anthony Loke is due to speak about the suspension today, and we’ll update this article if anything changes.
Every service you used on MyEG is still available. You’ll just need to go through JPJ’s own channels, and most of them are on the MyJPJ app.
The suspension covers every JPJ service that MyEG used to offer. That means renewing road tax and driving licences, applying for a learner’s driving licence (LDL), checking and paying JPJ summonses, transferring vehicle ownership, and booking the computerised theory test (KPP01).
MyEG can no longer process any of these for you. JPJ has asked the public to use only its official channels so that payments go through smoothly and safely.
Non-Malaysians who need to pay a JPJ summons at the Malaysia-Singapore border can do so at JPJ mobile units at Kompleks Sultan Abu Bakar (KSAB) and Bangunan Sultan Iskandar (BSI) in Johor, from 8am to 10pm.
Most of what you did on MyEG can now be done on the MyJPJ app or the JPJ public portal, with JPJ counters and kiosks as the in-person option. A few services have moved to one place only, so check the table below for the one you need before you head out.
| What You Want To Do | Where To Do It Now |
| Renew road tax | MyJPJ app, JPJ portal, JPJ counters and kiosks, JPJ mobile counters, post offices, selected Puspakom services |
| Renew driving licence | MyJPJ app, JPJ portal, JPJ counters and kiosks |
| Apply for a learner’s licence (LDL) | JPJ counters |
| Check and pay JPJ summonses | MyJPJ app, JPJ portal, JPJ counters and kiosks |
| Transfer vehicle ownership | JPJ counters, selected JPJ kiosks, JPJ portal, eAuto (for certain transactions) |
| Book the theory test (KPP01) | KPP test centres at driving institutes |
The MyJPJ app is the closest thing to MyEG, because you can renew from your phone without queuing. JPJ counters and post offices are there if you’d rather pay in person or need someone to help you.
If you booked your KPP01 test through MyEG before 5 October, you don’t need to do anything. JPJ says those bookings are still valid and your test will go ahead as planned.
New bookings from today have to be made at a KPP test centre at a driving institute, and that’s where you’ll take the test too.
MyEG let you renew car insurance and road tax in one go. With road tax gone from MyEG, you’ll now handle the two separately. The order stays the same, though. JPJ only renews your road tax if your car insurance is valid, so the insurance comes first.
JPJ’s statement only covers JPJ services and doesn’t mention the car insurance MyEG sells. You can renew your insurance directly with your insurer or through an agent, then renew your road tax on MyJPJ or at a counter. Since you’re changing how you renew anyway, it’s a good time to compare car insurance plans before you pay for another year.
If you renewed your road tax on MyEG in the days before the suspension, open the MyJPJ app and check that your road tax shows the new expiry date. If it doesn’t, keep your MyEG receipt and contact JPJ.
MyJPJ has let you renew road tax and driving licences online since February 2024. Download the app from Google Play, the App Store or Huawei AppGallery, then sign up with your MyKad number and follow the steps to verify your account.
Once you’re logged in, choose the road tax renewal option, pick your vehicle and choose a six-month or 12-month renewal. Pay online, and your digital road tax will show up in the app. If the car is registered under your own name, you don’t need a road tax sticker on the windscreen. Company-owned cars and cars registered to non-citizens still need to display one.
Before you renew, check the expiry date shown in the app. If it’s due this month, renew your car insurance first so your road tax renewal isn’t held up at the last minute.
