New Rahmah Eyewear Package To Offer Glasses From As Low As RM50

The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) said that the ongoing Payung Rahmah programme has now been further expanded to also cover eyewear via a new Rahmah Eyeglass Package.

Rolled out in collaboration with eye care provider MOG Eyewear, Malaysians will be able to purchase glasses at the affordable price of between RM50 to RM100, at 96 MOG Eyewear branches nationwide. On top of that, individuals may also upgrade their lenses to blue-cut lenses with ultraviolet (UV) radiation protection at just RM100.

MOG Eyewear further clarified in its own social media post that the Rahmah Eyeglass Package will be officially launched across all MOG outlets on 10 June 2023. “Our aim is to provide equal opportunities for consumers to afford quality eyewear for different vision needs. At just RM50 or RM100, we hope to make vision care accessible for our community and boost awareness of the importance of yearly eye checks and changing your eyewear timely to meet your vision needs,” it said.

The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister, Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub also took to his Facebook account to express his appreciation for the effort and dedication that made the launch of the Rahmah Eyeglass Package possible. Additionally, he said that he hopes the Payung Rahmah programme can be continued with more attractive offers to meet the needs of the people.

To note, Payung Rahmah is an aid programme that was introduced by the government early this year, with the aim to reduce the cost of living for the lower-income group (B40) and hardcore poor. Aside from the latest Rahmah Eyeglass Package, some other packages and initiatives that were also rolled out under the Payung Rahmah programme include Menu Rahmah, Bakul Rahmah, and Jualan Rahmah. Takaful operators, too, have expressed an interest in offering Rahmah insurance through the programme.
