PM Announces One-Off RM10,000 EPF Withdrawal
Author Avatar

Prime Minister Dato’ Sri Ismail Sabri Yaakob has announced that a one-off EPF withdrawal of RM10,000 will be made available to all Malaysians, some of whom are still affected by the economic effects brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Further details will be shared by the Finance Ministry and the EPF at a later time, but the Prime Minister has stated that EPF members can withdraw RM10,000 through this facility. “The Government has listened, studied, and analysed the requests from all parties to withdraw EPF savings. As such, the Government has agreed to allow a special EPF withdrawal of RM10,000,” he said.

The Prime Minister further added that this was a difficult decision, as the EPF savings are meant for retirement. The special withdrawal, according to him, is a “middle ground to balance today’s desperate needs and tomorrow’s savings”. However, he urged members to only withdraw their EPF savings if they really need it.
