National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) borrowers who are affected by the recent floods will be granted a three-month loan deferment as part of the government’s efforts to provide assistance.
According to Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr Noraini Ahmad, the decision to grant the loan deferment comes from the government whose commitment is to help Malaysian families as well as PTPTN borrowers who were affected by the floods. She also hopes the deferment can help to alleviate the burden of the affected borrowers.
Borrowers can apply for the three-month loan deferment via a dedicated PTPTN microsite or any of its nearby branches during the period from 28 December 2021 to 31 March 2022.
According to PTPTN, borrowers are not required to provide any supporting documents to show proof of being affected by the floods during the application.
The deferment will give the applicant three months’ relief from repaying the loan, starting from the month when the approval is obtained and the subsequent two months. Applicants will receive the approval via email within three business days from the date of submission.
Borrowers can get in touch with PTPTN through its Careline at 03-2193 3000 (from Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm) or through the website’s Live Chat for more information.
