Zurich Takaful Rolls Out Customisable Family Coverage In Respond To Declining Savings Trend

Zurich Takaful Malaysia Berhad has announced the launch of Takaful ProAspire, a family Takaful plan designed to support Malaysians in building a financially secure future while protecting their loved ones. The plan combines savings with protection, offering individuals the opportunity to achieve personal milestones with greater confidence and peace of mind.

The product is introduced in response to the growing financial challenges faced by many Malaysians. According to Bank Negara Malaysia’s 2024 Financial Capability and Inclusion Demand Side Survey, only 58% of Malaysians are currently saving for the future, down from 67% in 2021. Rising living costs and inconsistent incomes have made it difficult for many to prioritise long-term financial goals, with 61% unable to raise RM1,000 in an emergency and 31% expressing concern about managing expenses in retirement.

Nur Fatihah Mustafa, Chief Executive Officer of Zurich Takaful Malaysia Berhad, said the new plan is aimed at helping Malaysians move closer to their personal and financial goals.

“Takaful ProAspire is our way of supporting Malaysians in taking those meaningful steps towards their goals, whether it is planning for a child’s education, aiming for early retirement, performing Umrah or Hajj or simply setting aside money for their life aspirations. We believe that by doing our part in offering financial security, they can focus on what truly matters in life,” she said.

Takaful ProAspire is designed to be customisable and adaptable, allowing participants to tailor their plan to suit individual financial needs and life objectives. The plan provides flexible cash payouts of up to 3.5% annually or up to 12% every three years based on the basic sum covered, with the option to deposit payouts directly into a bank account, selected institutions, or reinvest with Zurich for potential returns. Participants can top up their savings at any time, while maintaining secure access to funds. Upon maturity, the plan offers a lump sum loyalty reward, which can be used to meet future financial goals.

Comprehensive coverage is included under the plan, with protection for death, total and permanent disability, and continued coverage through Golden Age Disability. Additional payouts are provided for accidental death, including enhanced benefits for incidents occurring during the performance of Umrah or Hajj.

Participants may choose coverage terms of 15, 21, or 30 years, with contribution options that include a five-year limited period or payment throughout the full term. Contributions are eligible for education insurance income tax relief, subject to approval by the Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia.

As an added incentive, customers who enrol in Takaful ProAspire by 29 July 2025 will receive a 999.9 gold bar upon approval, further reinforcing the plan’s focus on value and long-term reward. More information about the product is available at Zurich’s official website.
