UOB Launches New Lady’s Savings Account, Offers Complimentary Female Cancer Takaful
Author Avatar

UOB Malaysia has launched the UOB Lady’s Savings Account, the first and only financial solution for women in Malaysia that combines a savings account with complimentary takaful coverage for six female-related cancers. The coverage is offered in partnership with Prudential BSN Takaful Berhad.

The UOB Lady’s Savings Account includes coverage for cancers of the breast, cervix uteri, uterus, fallopian tube, ovary, and vagina/vulva. In the event of diagnosis of one of these cancers, the accountholder may receive 100% of the sum covered; in the event of death, a benefit of 10% of the sum covered is given.

The complimentary coverage is based on the monthly average balance (MAB) that has been maintained over the past month. A minimum MAB of RM20 must be maintained to qualify for the coverage and maximum sum covered is RM200,000.

Previous month MAB Sum covered
RM20 – RM10,000 RM1,000
> RM10,000 – RM50,000 RM20,000
> RM50,000 – RM100,00 RM100,000
Above RM100,000 RM200,000

Additionally, the UOB Lady’s Savings Account comes with annual health screening benefits for accountholders who maintain a MAB of RM20,000 for the last six months. The higher your MAB, the higher the value of the health screening voucher offered. This complimentary health screening is also transferable to the accountholder’s parents, spouses, or children.

“As more women enter the workforce each year, they wear many hats; they might be managing their careers, running a business, taking care of their ageing parents or running the household. Having to juggle several responsibilities, women tend to place their own financial and health well-being lower on the priority list,” said Ronnie Lim, Managing Director and Country Head of Personal Financial Services (PFS), UOB Malaysia.

“Recognising the need for women to prioritise their own well-being even as they care for others, we designed the UOB Lady’s Savings Account to help our female customers safeguard their financial future and health,” he said.

The UOB Lady’s Savings Account offers the complimentary cancer coverage to those aged between 19 and 61 years old. The account comes with an interest rate of 0.25% p.a. for balances up to RM100,000 and 0.75% p.a. for balances above RM100,000. For further information on the UOB Lady’s Savings Account, including its numerous sign-up offers and more on the exclusions to the complimentary coverage, visit the official UOB website.
