Following the official announcement of the new iPhone 11 and the Apple Watch Series 5 recently, Apple has slashed the retail prices for its previous-gen products in Malaysia, including the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus, iPhone XR, and the Apple Watch Series 3.
With the latest iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro hitting Malaysian shelves soon, Apple continued its tradition of lowering the prices of older models to fill the gap in the lower price points. Now, the iPhone 8 is the company’s most affordable smartphone, with the two-year old model available from RM2,199.
Previously, the iPhone 8 64GB was retailing at RM2,899. Now, it’s only going for RM2,199. The iPhone 8 Plus (also 64GB) too has been reduced in price, from RM3,299 to RM2,699. Note that the 256GB option has been discontinued for both the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus, and in its place, the tech giant has introduced a new 128GB option that will retail for RM2,399 for iPhone 8 and RM2,899 for iPhone 8 Plus.

At the same time, there is also a generous price cut for the iPhone XR. Initially retailing at RM3,599, iPhone XR 64GB has dropped to RM2,899. The 128GB version now costs RM3,099 (RM3,049 in Lazada) compared to its original RM3,849, which is a solid RM750 less and the highest discount of the lot. Just like the iPhone 8/Plus models, Apple has also removed the 256GB version from its line-up (though the Apple Store in Lazada is still offering the model at a reduced price of RM3,549).

It is important to note that at RM2,899, the iPhone XR (64GB) costs the same as iPhone 8 Plus (128GB). Depending on your storage needs (all iPhones do not have expandable storage), the iPhone XR does look like a better option – the official Apple Store in Lazada is offering the same model for RM2,849.
As for the Apple Watch Series 3, the 38mm option was initially retailing at RM1,229 but has now been reduced to RM849. The 42mm version previously retailed for RM1,379, now it has dropped to RM999. Both options are retailing for RM380 less than their original price tags. Compare these revised prices to that of the Watch Series 5 starting at RM1,749, and it is evident that the Watch Series 3 is still far gentler on the budget anytime.

That said, there are two years of tech advancement between the Series 3 and Series 5; the latest edition has been reviewed as the best smartwatch available today.
