Samsung has announced the arrival of its latest generation foldables at its global Unpacked event, and the new Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 further strengthens the South Korean company’s appeal in the foldables market.
With starting prices of RM4,999 for the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and RM7,299 for the Galaxy Z Fold 6 – representing a noticeable price increase from the previous generation – these new foldables are available for pre-orders starting today with various freebies bundled in. But before that, here’s what both devices have to offer.

Like the Galaxy S24 series earlier this year, the standout features debuting on the new Galaxy Foldables are in Galaxy AI, Samsung’s suite of software features powered by artificial intelligence. This time around, there are a number of considerable upgrades to Galaxy AI which should add meaningful experiences that separate these devices from the competition.
For starters, the Interpreter feature takes full advantage of the dual displays on the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6, allowing both parties to view the real-time-translation in a new Conversation Mode. Another big upgrade is with Live Translate, which will now support popular third-party apps in addition to Samsung’s native calling app – though Samsung has not yet revealed which apps they are.
Note Assist has been upgraded too, making full use of the large Main Screen to maximise productivity in the Samsung Notes app – there’s a new embedded transcript feature that can transcribe, translate, and summarise voice recordings directly on the Notes app.
Lastly, Galaxy AI introduces Sketch to Image, making full use of generative AI capabilities to create art pieces by simply sketch or draw on the Notes app or over photos in the Gallery app. It’s even powerful enough to generate images by writing a string of words to describe the image you wish to generate.
And for the Galaxy Flip 6 in particular, there’s a new Auto Zoom feature built into the Camera app which zooms in and out of a scene to find the best framing for a shot, making it a powerful hands-free solution for group shots.

Samsung further cements the Fold series as productivity and creativity machines with the latest Galaxy Z Fold 6. Its new design is inspired by the bold straight lines of the Galaxy S24 Ultra and continues to be slimmer and lighter than its predecessor (12.1mm and 239g vs 13.4mm and 253g), making it one of the cleanest and sleekest looking foldables from Samsung to date.
However, the usual hardware upgrades are surprisingly few. The Cover Screen has been enhanced with a slightly larger 6.3-inch display, while the 7.6-inch Main Screen’s Dynamic AMOLED 2X display now sports thinner bezels. The new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy processor is paired with 12GB of RAM with three storage options: 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB.

Battery capacity remains the same at 4,400mAh – though the processor upgrade should yield slightly better battery life. The camera setup is the same too, with a 50MP main camera, 12MP ultra-wide camera, and a 10MP 3x zoom camera.

Meanwhile, the Z Flip series has gained plenty of traction among the younger consumers, and with the Z Flip 6 Samsung has doubled down on its appeal to this generation with plenty of customisation options and unique colour options.
Where the Z Fold 6 was bold in its straight lines, the Z Flip 6 is equally as bold with its colour options, which includes the popular Mint from last year and some new ones like Yellow and Peach. The camera rings are also in the colour of the device, giving a splash of colour to the Cover Screen – and according to Samsung, a way to show your device’s colour even when used with a case.

Hardware-wise, the Galaxy Z Flip 6 does see more meaningful upgrades, which means the smaller size isn’t as much of a compromise to the hardware. The new Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy chipset is paired with 12GB of RAM (vs 8GB previously), with a new larger dual-battery (4,00mAh vs 3,700mAh), and gains dust resistance in addition to the existing water resistance with an IP48 rating (vs IPX8).
There’s even space for a new vapor chamber inside for enhanced cooling – and an upgraded 50MP main camera on the Cover Screen – all these upgrades, but the Galaxy Flip 6 maintains the 187g weight as the Flip 5, and yet is 0.2mm thinner.

The new Galaxy foldables will have the following retail prices in Malaysia:
