Rapid KL and Sepang International Circuit (SIC) will run free shuttle buses to the circuit for the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia from 2 to 4 October. It’s the race Bahrain was meant to host in April, and the first in F1 history to be moved to another country after being called off.
If you’ve bought the RM200 G Hillstand ticket with your MyKad, the free bus will take you from the pick-up point to the circuit. How much you’ll spend getting to the bus depends on whether you take the train, drive or ride.
Rapid KL will have 95 buses running back and forth between the circuit and the bus hub on Level 1 of KLIA Terminal 2, the Mitsui KLIA bus hub at Mitsui Outlet Park, and De-Village at Persiaran Millenia 2, Bandar Baru Enstek. They run from 7am to midnight on all three days, with one every 10 to 15 minutes. Once you’re at the circuit, separate shuttles will take you around it, and Rapid KL staff will be there to help.
The race starts at 3pm on Sunday, so there’s plenty of time after it finishes to catch a bus back before the last one leaves at midnight.
Rapid KL hasn’t said whether you’ll need a race ticket to board. It’ll post routes and schedules on its website and social media.
If you’re coming by train, the KLIA T2 pick-up is the one to use. KLIA Ekspres is selling a RM200 Sepang Race Train Pass for six trips between KL Sentral and KLIA T2 over the weekend. A normal one-way ticket is RM55.

If you’re working on Friday and only going on Saturday and Sunday, the pass saves you RM20. For race day alone, buy two single tickets and keep the RM90.
If you’re a student, a senior citizen or an OKU card holder, you get 30% off KLIA Transit fares with your MyKad, which brings each trip down to RM38.50. At that price, two days of single tickets cost RM154, which is cheaper than the pass. Three days cost RM231, so the pass saves you RM31.
If you’re going by train from KL Sentral, the full weekend comes to RM400. That’s the RM200 three-day G Hillstand ticket plus the RM200 train pass, and the bus is free.
There’s no motorcycle parking at SIC this year, according to parking details released on 24 September, so if you ride, your best option is likely to park near a pick-up point and take the bus in.
Car parking at the circuit starts at RM243.96 for the three days, and the cheapest zone, at RM162.65, is already sold out.
KLIA T2 and Mitsui Outlet Park have their own car parks, but nobody has said yet whether you can park there for the day or what it’ll cost, so check before you go. If you can, parking at a pick-up point and taking the free bus in could cost less than both the train pass and circuit parking. If you live on the Nilai or Seremban side, the De-Village pick-up in Bandar Baru Enstek is the closest.
If you’re going by train for two or three days, buy the pass before the weekend. It’s on sale until 4 October on the KLIA Ekspres website, app and self-service kiosks. Closer to race weekend, check Rapid KL’s website for route and schedule updates before you set off.
