New Netflix Prices Range From RM19.90 To RM69.90 A Month

Netflix has raised the price of all four of its Malaysian plans, and the new rates are already live. The increase ranges from RM1 a month on the cheapest plan to RM7 a month on the most expensive one, and adding someone outside your household now costs more too.

New subscribers pay the new rate straight away. If you’re already subscribed, you’ll be charged the higher price from your next billing date.

The New Monthly Price Of Every Netflix Plan

Each tier now costs the following, along with what that works out to over a year.

PlanNew monthly priceAnnual cost
MobileRM19.90RM238.80
BasicRM33.90RM406.80
StandardRM55.90RM670.80
PremiumRM69.90RM838.80

The features remain the same. Mobile supports one device at 480p on a phone or tablet, Basic supports one device at 720p, Standard offers 1080p on two devices, and Premium offers 4K on four devices.

The increase works out to an extra RM12 a year for Mobile, RM48 for Basic, RM72 for Standard, and RM84 for Premium.

Adding Someone Outside Your Home Now Costs RM14.90

If someone using your Netflix account doesn’t live in the same household, an extra member slot now costs RM14.90 a month, up from RM13 previously. Standard subscribers can add one extra member, while Premium subscribers can add two. With both slots filled, a Premium account now costs RM99.70 a month, or RM1,196.40 a year.

How To Pay Less For Netflix

Moving down a tier reduces the annual cost. Premium to Standard saves RM14 a month, or RM168 a year, and you keep Full HD and two simultaneous streams. Standard to Basic saves RM22 a month, or RM264 a year, although Basic only supports one device at a time.

Check your extra member slots too. On Standard with one extra member, you’re paying RM70.80 a month, which is more than what the RM69.90 Premium tier costs on its own.

Netflix doesn’t require a long-term contract, so you can cancel and resubscribe rather than paying for months when you aren’t watching. Three months of Premium a year costs RM209.70 instead of RM838.80.

If Netflix is bundled into your Astro or Unifi TV package, check your bills for changes to the bundle price as those providers update their packages. Before you renew, compare what the bundle adds to your monthly bill against subscribing to Netflix directly.
