Samsung Launches Galaxy S24 Series In Malaysia, Powered By Galaxy AI
Author Avatar

Samsung Malaysia has launched its latest flagship Galaxy S24 series in the country. It is the first devices to be powered by Galaxy AI, a suite of features made possible by artificial intelligence (AI). Pre-orders for all three models – the Galaxy S24 Ultra, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 – start today with a variety of perks.

Samsung is generating a huge amount of hype for Galaxy AI. The South Korean company believes the enhancements offered by AI can revolutionise the way we interact with smartphones in meaningful ways.

For instance, Samsung is claiming that all three Galaxy S24 devices will be able to perform real-time translations in calls (through Call Assist), physical conversations (through Interpreter), and in instant messaging apps (through Writing Assist). Thanks to downloadable language packs and dedicated Neural Processing Units (NPU), these translations are done on-device and without the need for an internet connection.

At launch, there will be 6 Asian language packs available for download: Mandarin, Korean, Japanese, Hindi, Thai, and Vietnamese.

Samsung Notes and S Pen features are also getting turbocharged with Galaxy AI. Samsung Notes can now not only convert your handwritten notes with the S Pen into text, but also clean it up with auto spacing and alignment. It can also transcribe voice notes into text. These features are also done on-device, ensuring a more secure environment with no data uploaded to the cloud.

Meanwhile, there are other cloud-based AI enhancements on Samsung Notes as well, including Auto Format for unorganized text notes, while Summarize & Translation offers near-instant summarising and translation of texts and notes.

In addition, the Galaxy S24 series photographic prowess is further enhanced not only with new hardware, but with generative AI processing.  The Photo Editor can now do things like Background Fill, Object Recomposition, and Edit Suggestion.

Combined, these AI features make the Galaxy S24 series quite unique with its software-first approach. These features – and more – are part of the company’s latest One UI 6.1 based on Android 14, debuting on the Galaxy S24 series.

Of course, there are still a number of notable hardware upgrades. For starters, the flagship Galaxy S24 Ultra is now made with a titanium frame for increased strength and durability. The base memory configuration has also been increased to 12GB as standard, with storage options ranging from 256GB all the way to 1TB as before.

On the camera front, the S24 Ultra doesn’t change too much from the S23 Ultra from last year, with one major difference being a new 50MP sensor for 5x optical zoom. However, thanks to Galaxy AI enhancements, Samsung claims that the S24 Ultra’s cameras can now capture optical-level zoom quality at all standard zoom ranges (2x, 3x, 5x, 10x). With a new Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy chipset and 5,000mAh battery, Samsung claims that the S24 Ultra will be the longest battery life ever on a Galaxy smartphone.

Meanwhile, the Galaxy S24 Plus and Galaxy S24 also get slight design enhancements, with slightly larger screen sizes (6.7” and 6.2” on the S24 Plus and S24 respectively). Interestingly, the S24+ will also get 12GB of memory as standard, a 50% jump from last year’s model. Battery capacities have also been upgraded at 4,900mAh and 4,000mAh on the Galaxy S24+ and Galaxy S24 respectively. However, the cameras for both models appear to be the same set found in the S23+ and S23, with a 50MP main sensor, 10MP 3x zoom sensor, 12MP ultrawide sensor, and a 12MP front-facing camera.

For the Malaysian market, these are the official retail prices of the Galaxy S24 series:

Galaxy S24 Ultra 12GB + 256GB: RM6,299
Galaxy S24 Ultra 12GB + 512GB: RM6,799
Galaxy S24 Ultra 12GB + 1TB: RM7,799

Galaxy S24+ 12GB + 256GB: RM4,899

Galaxy S24 8GB + 256GB: RM4,099
Galaxy S24 8GB + 512GB: RM4,599

Meanwhile, pre-orders for all Galaxy S24 models are officially starting today. As you can expect, there are various additional perks, with more information to be revealed at its local launch event happening later today.
