Xiaomi has officially launched the Redmi Note 8 and Redmi Note 8 Pro in Malaysia. The latest entry of the wildly successful Redmi Note series certainly aim to impress, combining powerful hardware at affordable price points, which means plenty of reason for Malaysians to be excited about.
Of the two models, the Redmi Note 8 is the lower-end option. Powered by a mid-range Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 processor paired with 3 or 4GB of RAM, the Redmi Note 8 sports a 6.3” Full HD display, and a 4,000 mAh battery. Storage options range from 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB.
Besides that, the Redmi Note 8 packs a quad-camera setup at the rear, a significant upgrade from the Redmi Note 7. It consists of a 48MP main sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide angle unit, a 2MP sensor for macro shots, and a 2MP depth sensor for better portrait shots. On the front, there is a 13MP selfie camera.
It is available in 3 colours: Moonlight White, Neptune Blue, and Space Black.
In comparison, the Redmi Note 8 Pro is the high-performance model – and a higher price tag. It is powered by the latest MediaTek Helio G90T processor, making it the first phone with this flagship chipset. This gaming-optimised chipset is matched with a generous 6GB of RAM, while a large 4,500mAh battery ensures the long battery life that the Redmi Note series are known for. The Redmi Note 8 Pro also features a larger 6.53″ Full HD+ Dot Drop display.
In addition to the new processor, the Note 8 Pro comes with a new 64MP rear camera, which Xiaomi claims is the first in Malaysia. All three other rear cameras remain the same as the Redmi Note 8, while the selfie camera is bumped to a 20MP unit.
Consumers will be able to choose from a selection of 3 colours: Pearl White, Forest Green, and Mineral Grey.
