Fuel costs can make or break a fleet business. When you’re running delivery vans, school buses, courier services, or tourism vehicles, every sen per litre counts. With RON95 now priced at RM2.60 per litre, businesses operating multiple vehicles face mounting pressure on their operating budgets.
The government’s Subsidised Petrol Control System (SKPS) offers qualified businesses access to RON95 at RM2.05 per litre. Caltex’s Subsidy StarCard connects you to this subsidy whilst delivering additional value through Techron®, our proprietary fuel technology designed to protect your engines and improve efficiency.
SKPS covers commercial vehicles in two categories: public land transport and land freight transport. Public transport includes taxis, school buses, express buses, rental cars, and tour buses. Freight vehicles include lorries, delivery vans, mobile services, and catering operations.
The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living estimates approximately 100,000 vehicles nationwide qualify for the programme. As of mid-October 2025, only 24,037 vehicles had registered. If your vehicles fall into these categories, you’re likely leaving money on the table.
SKPS provides the same subsidised rate across participating providers. The difference lies in the fuel quality and what it does for your vehicles long-term. Your fuel choice affects engine health, maintenance expenses, and efficiency.
Caltex Premium 95 with Techron® is formulated to do more than move your vehicles from point A to point B. The Techron® technology actively cleans your engine whilst you drive. Over time, deposits build up on engine parts, restricting fuel flow and reducing power. Caltex with Techron® removes these deposits, keeping your engines running as they should.
For fleet vehicles covering hundreds of kilometres daily, this protection adds up. Laboratory tests show Techron® reduces engine wear by up to 38% and friction by up to 41%1. Less wear means fewer breakdowns. Less friction means smoother operation. Cleaner engines also burn fuel more efficiently, so you could see improvements in kilometres per litre beyond the direct subsidy savings.
When you’re operating on tight margins, every efficiency gain counts. The Caltex Subsidy StarCard gives you both the government subsidy and fuel technology that works to protect your investment in your vehicles.
Getting started with the Caltex Subsidy StarCard is straightforward.
Step 1: Verify Your Eligibility
Visit the MySubsidi portal at mysubsidi.kpdn.gov.my to check whether your vehicles qualify. You’ll need your company registration details and vehicle information.
Step 2: Register for SKPS
Complete your registration on MySubsidi and select Caltex as your fuel provider. The system allows businesses to choose from multiple participating providers based on their operational needs.
Step 3: Apply for Your Caltex Subsidy StarCard
Once KPDN approves your SKPS application, you can apply for your Caltex fleet card. There are 3 options of card which are the StarCard subsidy Debit, StarCard Subsidy credit and subsidy cash card. There are no application fees. The card connects to the StarCard Online app, giving you digital visibility over all fuel purchases.
The subsidy’s impact becomes real when you calculate what it means for your business. Take a delivery company operating five vans, each using 300 litres of RON95 monthly.
At the current market rate of RM2.60 per litre, monthly fuel costs reach RM3,900 across all five vehicles. With the Caltex Subsidy StarCard at RM2.05 per litre, that same fuel costs RM3,075.
The monthly savings are RM825. Annually, that’s RM9,900 in reduced fuel costs just from the subsidy alone. For a five-van operation, you’re looking at nearly up to RM50,000 in annual savings.
These calculations don’t account for potential efficiency improvements from using fuel with Techron® technology. Even small improvements in engine cleanliness can contribute to noticeable fuel savings over time. That’s money that can go towards vehicle maintenance, driver wages, or business growth instead of disappearing at the fuel pump.
The Caltex Subsidy StarCard includes digital tracking through the StarCard Online app. You can monitor exactly how much each vehicle spends, when they refuel, and where. This visibility helps you spot patterns: which vehicles are consuming more fuel than expected, which drivers maintain better efficiency, and where irregularities might indicate problems.
Real-time spending data means you can budget accurately rather than waiting for month-end reconciliations. For business owners managing multiple vehicles and drivers, this level of control matters. You know what’s happening with your fuel spend at any given moment.
If you haven’t registered for SKPS yet, the application process is open now. The programme launched on 30th September 2025, and many have received Caltex Subsidy StarCard and enjoy subsidy price.
Thousands of eligible vehicles remain unregistered. If your fleet qualifies, you’re entitled to this subsidy. Combining it with fuel technology designed for engine protection gives you both immediate savings and long-term value.
To apply for the Caltex Subsidy StarCard or get more information about the programme, visit Caltex official website, contact their helpline at 1800 88 3168 or email to [email protected]. The team can answer questions specific to your fleet’s needs and guide you through the application process.
For fleet businesses operating on tight margins, the combination of government subsidy and engine-protecting fuel technology makes financial sense. The Caltex Subsidy StarCard delivers both.
