Touch ‘n Go (TNG) has a new card that does two jobs. The Touch ‘n Go Business Card works as a digital business card, and it also pays your tolls and parking like a normal TNG card. It costs RM49.90, which TNG calls an introductory price, and TNG hasn’t said how long that price will last.
You set up a digital profile with your name, company, job title, contact details, and social media links. When you meet someone, they hold your card against the back of their phone. This works if the phone has NFC, the chip that lets it read a card by touch. If their phone doesn’t have NFC, they can scan the QR code on the back instead. Your profile opens on their phone, and they can save your contact straight away. Your profile also has its own web link, which you can send to people directly.
You can change your details at any time on the Business Card Portal. The name, job title, and company printed on the front of the card don’t change, though. If you move to a new job, your profile will be correct but the card in your hand will still show your old title. The card comes in one silver design.
Once you link the card to your Touch ‘n Go eWallet app, you can use it like a normal TNG card at tolls, parking, and participating LRT, MRT, Monorail, and BRT lines.
According to TNG’s FAQ, the card doesn’t work on the MRT Kajang Line yet, and that includes My50 passes on that line. TNG’s shop page says this is temporary, because of upgrades. If you use a My50 pass on the Kajang Line, keep it on your current card for now. A pass on the new card won’t work on that line, and you can’t get a refund once it’s activated.
A standard enhanced TNG card with NFC costs RM10. The Business Card is valid for up to seven years, so the extra RM39.90 you pay for it works out to RM5.70 a year.
The RM49.90 doesn’t include delivery, which the Touch ‘n Go Shop charges at checkout. Orders in Peninsular Malaysia take 7 to 14 working days to arrive. TNG doesn’t give a delivery time for Sabah and Sarawak, so check at checkout if you’re ordering from East Malaysia. Once you’ve bought the card, you can’t get a refund. If it can’t be delivered, TNG decides case by case whether to refund you.
If you lose the card, unlink it from your profile on the portal straight away. TNG’s product disclosure sheet says you risk losing your card balance if you don’t. To get the balance back, ask TNG to end the card on its Unified Consumer Portal. You log in by scanning the QR code on the portal with your TNG eWallet app. TNG’s product disclosure sheet also makes you responsible for what happens when you share your profile link, so only put details on it that you’re happy for strangers to see.
Companies can order custom cards through Teams Mode. These cards can carry the company’s logo and colours, and an admin manages every employee’s profile from one Business Portal. The minimum order is 100 cards, and the price depends on how many your company orders. To get a quote, email tngbizcard.enquiry@touchngo.com.my or see the Teams Mode page.
You’ll get more out of the extra RM39.90 if you meet new people for work every week. That includes freelancers, property and insurance agents, sales staff, and small business owners. One card replaces both your paper name cards and the TNG card in your wallet. If you only need a card for tolls and parking, the RM10 enhanced TNG card does the same payment job.
