CMLink Launches In Malaysia With China-Focused Mobile Plans
Author Avatar

China Mobile’s CMLink service has begun offering prepaid mobile plans in Malaysia, following its earlier partnership with Maxis to operate as a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) using Maxis’ network.

The service is positioned around contract-free prepaid plans, with options that vary based on data usage and duration.

Plans Start From RM25 With Higher Data Tiers Available

The entry-level plan starts at RM25 per month and comes with 40GB of data along with unlimited local call minutes.

Higher-tier plans include 200GB for RM35 per month and 350GB for RM50 per month, offering larger data allowances for users who rely more heavily on mobile data.

There are also multi-month plans that bundle several months together at a fixed price, as well as add-ons for additional data or roaming.

Built Around Cross-Border Use Between Malaysia And China

What stands out is the focus on users who frequently travel between Malaysia and China.

Most plans, except the basic tier, include roaming data for Mainland China, while selected packages also come with call minutes for calls between Malaysia and China.

This makes the plans more relevant for users who want to stay connected across both countries without switching SIM cards or managing separate plans.

Additional Features For Frequent Travellers

CMLink also offers a 1-Card-Multi-Number feature, which allows you to link a Mainland China or Hong Kong number to your Malaysian number.

This means calls and messages sent to your China or Hong Kong number can still reach you without needing to keep multiple SIM cards active, although this feature comes with an additional monthly fee.

What This Means If You’re Considering A Switch

If you regularly travel between Malaysia and China, or need to stay reachable on both numbers, this setup removes the need to juggle multiple SIM cards or manage separate roaming plans.

Payments also support platforms such as Alipay, WeChat Pay, and UnionPay alongside local options, which reflects how the service is designed around cross-border use rather than purely local plans.
